Cross Country / All Mountain Week with Rivierabike

A typical week will consist of a mix of riding from an epic XC day out in the saddle to a van assisted downhill day and everything in between. The itinerary below is an example of our rides, however it can be modified to suit the requirements of the group, whether that be more singletrack descending with uplifts or more traditional XC with climbing.

Click here for further details of prices and availability.

A Typical Itinerary

Day 1: To warm us up we start with a gentle xc jaunt up to Triora and Cetta valley to give you an intro to the singletrack and we will practice some switchbacks on “beginner bends”.  We will also use this time to to give advice on riding technique and bike set up. After lunch we jump in the bus and do a few descents from the crest of the mountain "Carmo Langan" at 1200m and finish in Molini for a few beers.

Distance: 42km Altitude ascent: 500m Altitude descent: 2900m

Day 2: Today we will be riding on the coastal area of either Dolcedo, Diano Marina or San Remo... there's so much to choose from. The riding will be very different to yesterday, wooded alpine trails will change to open vistas to the med, mule paths or fast sandy trails will take us through lovely little villages before ending the day with a gelato and a beer on the beach.

Distance: 30-40km Altitude ascent: 500-1000m Altitude descent: 2000-3000m

Day 3: Today's ride will have more of an alpine feel in the upper Agentina Valley and Val Roya in France. We will take the van to the end of the asphalt road at 1200m and climb up to Passo della Guardia (1400m). We ride some sweet flowing alpine singletrack to arrive at the small village of Realdo (900m). The van will then take us up to the French border (2100m) and what follows is one of our best and longest trails....Popeye Doyle. After about an hour and a half of descending, we arrive at the French town of La Brigue (800m) for lunch. A bit of a climb will follow to arrive back in Italy and another hour and a half descent will take us back to Molini....food and beer will really be appreciated tonight!

Distance: 52km Altitude ascent: 1200m Altitude descent: 3500m

Day 4: After yesterday's ride you will need a rest day and time to relax on the beach or at a bar. Or perhaps you want to  visit San Remo or try out some other sporting activity like canyoning, or Via Ferrata….whatever you want.

Day 5: The Alp2Sea is our signature ride! A favourite of our past guests. The ride will take you from what's known as the little dolomites of Mt Grai and Toraggio along the ridge known as the "Alta Via" all the way down (with some undulations) to the sea at Ventimiglia.

We take the bus up 1500m to Colla Melosa, before climbing 500m up to Mt Grai.(1900). From here we traverse a narrow singletrack carved into the towering cliffs by soldiers from the the first world war. After a spell of vertigo we arrive at the pass of Toraggio. From here it's a 10km 800m descent on singletrack through alpine pastures, crags and rocky cliffs to Gouta.

After a quick lunch we continue along the ridge on Napoleon's old millitary road and eventually arrive at the next section of singletrack at 1400m. From here the terrain changes from craggy limestone cliffs and alpine meadows to mediteranean, with it's dry and dusty trails, sandstone and low level bushes.

We take the narrow ribbon of singletrack along the ridge trying to catch glimpses of the sea in the distance and the snow capped Alpe Maritime to the East whilst simultaneously concentrating on the bike. This section lasts for two hours...yes two hours of descending on sweet dusty singletrack before we reach the outer hinterland of Ventimiglia.

We then traverse a little on double track before we hit the final section of singletrack dropping us off right onto the beach for a refreshing dip, ice cream and beers before the van takes us back to Molini.

Distance: 60km Altitude ascent: 1100m Altitude descent: 2700m

Day 6: Today is Freeride Friday and singletrack heaven with Agrifolgia, Terra Rossa, the Belendas and Fantasia to name but a few will suck you in until total brain fade....but the memories will live on.

Distance: 50km Altitude ascent: 0m Altitude descent: 6000m
