Road Cycling

The Milan – San Remo, Giro d’Italia, Paris – Nice,  not to mention the plethora of local races that all take place in the vicinity of Rivierabike…….. gives  no doubt that this is serious road biking country.

With Rivierabike you will experience the high cols of the Maritimes in France, the costal roads Imperia and Savona and go as far as the hills of the Piedmont. The roads in Italy and France are in very good condition and very quiet.

Rivierabike generally dont offer a full inclusive and guided package with road biking..but can be arranged if you wish. However we feel that th road cyclist rides at their own time and whenever and wherever they want to go. To assist you we have compiled many route cards tomaximise your enjoyment.

Below are a couple of examples of suggested road rides.

Giro Di Baiardo    Distance: 87km Altitude: 2100m Grade: Hard Season: .all year

Named as it passes through the stunning mountain village of Baiardo which has a 360 degree view from the Sea to the snow covered peaks of the Alps.

Starting with a 18km climb up the beautiful Oxentina valley to Passo Alpicella (alt. 1100) before a quick descent to Baiardo and then to Isolabona (alt 100) in the NerviaValley for lunch. We then to Pigna before the big climb to Carmo Langhan (alt 1150). Next is a fast twisty 23km descent and finish at Badalucco.

There are many different variations to this route with stops possible on the Mediterranean coast, a true sea to alps ride.

Lago di Osigilia    Distance: 87km Altitude: 2050m Grade: Hard Season: March - November

Nearly a 100km, from the coast of Finale Ligure to the mountains of the Piedmont, a truly unforgettable ride.

Starting with a warm up along the coastal road before you head north on a stunning climb that takes you to Colle Mellogno. Get into the big ring and from here enjoy a long descent to Loc Micco. A small ascent will bring you to the beautiful Lago (Lake) Oscilia. Relax for a while in the water and enjoy a hearty lunch.

The ride continues with a further climb upto Quadrino, here you will see the coast far below before plummeting hitting speeds of over 70km/h (if youre brave enough) before arriving in Finale Ligure for a well earned beer watching the sunset.
